What is elgin schoolhouse?

The Elgin Schoolhouse is a historic school building located in Elgin, Oregon, United States. It was built in 1892 and served as a school for more than 75 years until it was closed in 1969 due to consolidation of school districts. The schoolhouse has since been preserved as a historic site and is now open to the public as a museum.

The schoolhouse has a traditional one-room schoolhouse design, with a large main classroom area, a small teacher's room, and a small storage room. The building is constructed of wood and has a simple gable roof. The interior is furnished with period-specific desks, textbooks, and other educational materials.

The Elgin Schoolhouse Museum is now operated by the Union County Museum Consortium and hosts a variety of educational programs and events throughout the year. The museum is open to the public from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend.
